I am the owner and founder of Compassion Counseling Center. I received my doctorate degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and my Master’s degree from East Carolina University. I have worked as a therapist for 19 years in various settings and have been practicing as a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2006, and as a supervisor since 2015.
I am EMDR trained. I address a variety of concerns including, parenting skills, marital issues, trauma, mood disorders, behavior disorders, thought disorders, career concerns, and spiritual concerns. As a professional Christian counselor, I believe that the Lord has the power to heal marriages, families, and individuals, using Jesus as our example of how to live life and find perfect peace.
I use an integrated framework created from Biblical principles and sound psychological and clinical findings to support persons in their journey of spiritual and psychological health, using CBT, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Family Systems Theory, Attachment Theory, Acceptance Therapy, and Mindfulness. I am also EMDR trained.

I have been a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor since 2019. I have over 12 years experience in the clinical and mental health setting, addressing issues related to mood disorders, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Anxiety, personality disorders, and Schizophrenia/Schizoaffective Disorder. Although my experience has been primarily with adults, I can work with children over age 10, as well as those individuals who do not have a diagnosed mental illness. I can also address relationship issues, college/career concerns, and caregiver support.
I use an integration of interventions relating to Person-Centered Theory and CBT, clients direct their path of treatment by creating goals that will promote progress to the desired level of success. Clients may also receive “homework”, engage in role-play, or participate in creative, therapeutic activities.
My approach to wellness includes a focus on personal strengths and capabilities as well as the development of healthy relationships and personal faith (if desired). My goal is to help empower my clients to create a sustainable, healthy environment where they can be as successful as possible.

I look forward to working with you to identify areas of concern and develop goals to address those concerns. I will use various therapeutic techniques and resources to assist in resolving issues to meet your goals. I am happy to incorporate Christian/Biblical principles in our work together if you so choose. I have seen and experienced how a personal relationship with Christ can positively affect an individual’s healing and positive change.
I have 10 years of experience working with clients from children to the elderly. My experience includes work in addictions, co-dependency, child welfare, domestic violence, hospice/grief, military issues, caregiver issues, anxiety, depression, ADD/ADHD, parenting, adoption, attachment, and relationship issues.
Making the decision to seek help from a counselor/therapist is intimidating. I will provide a comfortable, safe, and compassionate environment for you to share, learn, and make strides towards positive change.

Have you ever felt with no words that you have tried everything and still seem to not have the drive that you once had? Do you think that as a mom, you are trying to juggle everything put a big smile on your face but still, on the inside, you feel lost? Or maybe that you can’t catch a break? that everyone seems to have it all put together, expect you? This journey that we call life can be bumpy and many times unpredictable, but we have the right tools you will be able to navigate this life ready to tackle what may come your way. I am here to walk alongside you, to provide a safe space with no judgment that will enable you to voice out what you have been bottling inside of you. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, post-partum depression, self-esteem, etc. YOU ARE NOT ALONE! My desire is to help women and young girls to be all that God wants them to be. As well, work with children & teens that are dealing with, anxiety, ADHD, or behavioral problems. If desired by the client, I can integrate a Christian approach; however, I will not impose my own beliefs and values in session. Lastly, with a Cognitive Behavioral lens, person-centered approach, and providing mindfulness techniques, we will work together in creating the best treatment plan for you! When working with children and teens, I like to integrate art, music, and play therapy techniques to enhance the therapeutic process.
I look forwarding working alongside of you!

My professional experience as a clinical mental health counselor is just beginning as a practicum student, yet the scope of life experiences, education, and professions I’ve held is diverse. The previous educational and work experience I have is in elementary and early childhood education. My career path shifted when I was offered a position as a caseworker in child welfare which provided a calling for me to serve as a counselor and has led me to this journey.
Since my work experiences with children, adolescents and their families vary, I am open to working with any age range or issues experienced at this time. As a veteran myself, I respect the sacrifices of our service members past and present and therefore feel honored to serve them.
The therapeutic approaches I use with my clients will be holistic and mindful of each individual’s unique needs, experiences, strengths, and culture. Within my life experiences, I have witnessed the healing power the Lord provides through the Holy Spirit and am willing to incorporate biblical principles into our work if requested. I look forward to meeting you and working collaboratively as a team to help you make healthy and positive changes in your healing journey.

How did that make you feel?” I have heard way too often that this is all that was asked during a counseling session. Although your feelings are meaningful and very valid, my approach will be supportive and goal oriented to make you feel heard and make progress towards a positive change in your life. We all have problems, thoughts, feelings, or experiences that can impact our well-being. I know first-hand how to find ways to cope or work through those and will be here to support you and find the appropriate interventions or therapies for your specific journeys. I am a firm believer that if everyone had a supportive person in their corner along their journey cheering them on, that encouragement can carry them a long way. It is my priority to create a safe and interactive environment to tackle difficult subjects, traumas, or to simply say the things outloud that you never thought you would say while also building a strong therapeutic alliance . I am interested in treating youth to elderly clients that may have issues with depression, anxiety, grief, marital and family problems, etc. My therapeutic approach is warm and collaborative while always being empathetic.
I completed my Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a focus of Crisis Counseling and am now pursuing my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University. I look forward to working with you in the future and helping you gain the insight to your thoughts, feelings and behaviors to make your best self.
